We needed a reset but...
Hear me out. Society has been dysfunctional for a long time. We've drifted away from our villages, we've become self centered, self absorbed, not stopping to think about the ramifications of our actions on our planet. On our very lives and livelihoods. Wars and Politics among other things, serve to divide us, keep us fighting amongst each other instead of working together to solve the problems that endanger us all. Eventually our actions (or inactions) will catch up with us... or maybe eventually is now.
When Covid 19 first showed up and shut everything down, we were shown the power of Mother Nature to heal herself with us pesky humans out of the way and not continuing to contribute to the pollution and greenhouse gasses that cause climate change. As the pandemic continued, unfortunately the issues plaguing our nation and planet were amplified by our isolation and access to uncensored social media, which has further polarized us with opinions being amplified by influencers and "news" media, which serves as puppets of those in power to keep the people from thinking for themselves and coming together as a global community. Our political leaders have forgotten that they are elected to serve the people, not to be worshipped as celebrities.
Weather is becoming more and more severe planet wide, and as I sit here writing just 4 days out from Hurricane Ian, that has devastated most of the State of Florida, I can't help but think how hopefully Governor Ron DeSantis realizes that actually doing his job to serve the people who elected him (and those who didnt) is a much more honorable path than playing political games to further his ambitions.
We needed a reset, and I hope that this is it.
Our collective hearts are broken for all of the lives that have been shattered by this and other severe weather events, and by pandemics, and by senseless gun violence, and by wars, and opiate addiction, and by alcoholism, and by rape and sexual abuse, and by domestic violence, and by poverty, and by limited access to Healthcare, and by ... and by... and by...
Reset. Come together in our common humanity to work together to create a world that works for ALL of us, and not just a few.
Compassion, empathy, love, kindness, etc. These are the things that will move us forward instead of to our destruction.
Much love.
Nisla
